You're Invited To Our Wedding!
12pm, Saturday 12th of September 2026

We're so looking forward to seeing you (we mean that sincerely. It’s why you’re seeing this in the first place)

Because of who we are (nerds) we're using the RSVP to harvest data from you.
Filling out the form will likely take around 10 minutes (or 30 seconds if you can't make it!)
But we really appreciate it!
Much love,
Charlotte & Tom
xx

CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE SCHEDULE IN MORE DETAIL PLEASE?
Bit needy, but okay: arrive in time for some drinks and socialising in the library, before heading down to the Hepburn Suite for the ceremony conducted by world renowned poet Harry Baker. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on Twitch for our collective followers and our friends & family that can’t make it.
Following the ceremony, we’ll head back up to the library and there will be an opportunity for drinks while our wonderful photographer takes some photos. She’ll also be roaming round for the rest of the day. Ignore her; the best photos are candid!
We’ll then head back down for the wedding breakfast (this is just the fancy name for the first meal after we become husband and wife... although you should probably also have breakfast. It’s a long day!). Most likely between main course and desserts we’ll have speeches from the usual suspects.
After a little break (for digestion, fresh air, cigarettes &c.) we’ll head back down for the cabaret show. Some of our favourite people are also some of the most talented performers in the world. So we decided we could showcase them to our other loved ones. Full line-up TBC but trust me; it’s not to be missed!
We’ll then have another short break before the first dance, some ceilidh dancing (with music provided by the incredible 7 Hills ceilidh band) and finally DJ Be Chill will provide music for us to dance the night away.
The venue can only host people until 1am, so it needs to be over by then I’m afraid.
WHEN IS IT?
Saturday 12th of September 2026 (12pm arrival)
WHERE IS IT?
The Royal Scots Club, 29 Abercromby Place, Edinburgh, Scotland, EH3 6QE
HOW DO WE GET THERE?
The venue is a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station (or a 10 minute taxi from Edinburgh Haymarket)
Or it's a 20 minute Uber ride from Edinburgh International Airport
YOU EXPECT US TO SLEEP ON THE STREET!?
I mean... if you'd like? Otherwise you're welcome to stay at the venue by booking online, or call +44 131 556 4270 (2 night minimum). There is a small discount on the first ten rooms for guests at the wedding. To claim that discount, you'll need to phone up and ask for Katherine Stark (the venue’s wedding expert)
If you'd like somewhere more affordable, it’s the centre of town; there are 50+ hotels within a ten minute stagger from the venue. The cheapest look to be around £60 (€70/$80) for the Saturday night, but shop around!
I’M GOING TO DRIVE. WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
There are lots of overnight car parks nearby, as well as on-street parking, but it gets pretty expensive.
Your best bet MIGHT be to park a little further out of town, and get a taxi in. Or take advantage of Edinburgh's Park & Ride bus service.
People travelling from abroad: if you're just staying in Edinburgh, you (probably) do not need a hire car. Edinburgh has great public transport links. If you’re travelling round the country afterwards, just get a hire car after the wedding.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Something fancy; it’s an excuse to get dressed up. A nice suit, a fancy dress &c. It’s a Scottish wedding, so feel free to dust off that kilt! There will be plenty of dancing, so put on some comfy shoes and some clothes that let you move around!
The wedding will be entirely indoors (it’s Scotland) so don’t feel like you need to wrap up warm. We might do some photos outside very briefly, but that’s only if the weather is nice. And we're sure you can stomach being cold for a few minutes for the perfect shot!
NB. No ridiculous hats. Weddings always turn into a game of “who can wear the silliest hat”. Particularly among female family members. None of that please!
WHEN IS THE RSVP DEADLINE?
ASAP. So we can start making concrete plans. If we’ve had 90% of replies and we don’t hear from you, we know where you live and we’ll just hunt you down.
Also the order in which the RSVPs are received will be tracked, and may very well play a part in the day's proceedings...
WE SAID WE’RE COMING BUT SOMETHING HAS COME UP. WHAT DO WE DO?
Well we’d obviously be disappointed, but we would rather you tell us as soon as possible, so we can make the necessary adjustments to plans.
We understand life gets in the way sometimes. But the more notice you can give us, the better.
If you don’t tell us, but you just don’t show up, we reserve the right to cut you out of our lives altogether. Weddings are expensive!
YOU DIDN’T INVITE MY PARTNER OR MY KIDS. CAN I BRING THEM ANYWAY?
NO. If we didn’t invite your partner it’s probably because we don’t know them well enough. We want to spend the day surrounded by people we know and love.
Also the minimum age for the wedding is 24 (the age of the youngest invited friend). So no kids. Sorry if that’s a pain. We’d love to have you there, but if that’s a barrier for entry, we’ll be disappointed, but we understand.
DO WE NEED TO BRING GIFTS?
Gifts are greatly appreciated, but not entirely necessary… As is cash! Weddings are expensive. Especially 'cos we decided to buy a house and get married within 12 months. Playing life on hard mode!!
CAN WE CONTRIBUTE TO A HONEYMOON FUND INSTEAD?
Yes! Absolutely. We can give you our bank details. Thanks in advance. Although the “honeymoon” fund might be more of a “mortgage” and “groceries” fund. Although we are looking at a safari as an option. Deepest Siberia aside, it's about as far away from a cruise ship as it's possible to get.

CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS OR VIDEOS ON THE DAY?
ABSOLUTELY! Take as many photos/videos as you can! Two requests: don’t post them on social media until we have chance to do so first, AND make sure you send them to us!
That being said, during the ceremony? Ideally not. We have a photographer for that. We’ll also be live streaming it! We don’t need your cameras in the shot.
I’VE TOLD YOU I’M COMING. ISN’T THAT ENOUGH?
NO! We’re harvesting your data, so please fill out the form. It’ll also tell us your menu choices and dietary requirements. It’ll take 10 minutes of your time. That’s all we need.
WILL THERE BE AN OPEN BAR?
HAHAHAHA! No. There will be "a bar" and we'll be providing a couple of drinks for toasts &c. But otherwise there'll be nothing open about it!
ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE FEW DAYS I'M IN TOWN?
What are we? TripAdvisor?
There’s plenty of stuff to do in Edinburgh. Built in 1130, go see Edinburgh Castle (for our American friends, 1130 was a year in history), go run up Arthur’s seat, or go see the Botanical gardens.
For food? There’s a really great Asian fusion restaurant in the old town called Shao. That’s our usual haunt. Just opposite the Pear Tree, which is always good for a drink!
Somewhere fancy? Purslane has a tasting menu which might be the best in town. It’s also where Charlotte took Tom for their first date in Edinburgh.
Somewhere less fancy? Wings. Their menu? Wings. Chicken, mushroom or cauliflower. With 100+ sauces. Just off the Royal Mile. When you’re done, head up the hill and see a street performer. Dinner and a show for under £10.
Also if you want a super fancy looking place for drinks: The Voodoo Rooms. Hidden behind the Apple Store, it’s got great speakeasy vibes (it was also Tom’s EdFringe venue 2017-2019).
WHY DO YOU NEED MY EMAIL?
Because if anything changes, it would be much easier (for us) to send out a blanket email. It also means we can chase you down for the photos/videos you’ve taken during the day!

WILL THERE BE A QUIET AREA?
Absolutely. There’ll be a space away from loud noises with games if you just wanted to go and chat & get away from it all. Also if you’re not sure why this area exists, don’t worry about it; it’s probably not meant for you ;-)

IF THERE'S ANYTHING WE HAVEN'T ANSWERED HERE, LET US KNOW AND WE'LL UPDATE IT ASAP!
IF YOU'RE THINKING IT, CHANCES ARE SOMEONE ELSE IS TOO!

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TAKE PART IN OUR RIDICULOUSLNESS.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU!
C & T xx
